Stuart and I are running our second marathon in the hope of finishing strong and happy, maybe even beat last year’s time. It is a very flat marathon and we love York. Running has helped with my mental health so yes, running is my thing. But a marathon - a second marathon when I finished the last one swearing I’d never do it again…it is a challenge!

We are both also passionate about the ministry and mission of Moncreiff Parish Church. The congregation are amazing, prayerful and determined to be a part of the community of Calderwood and beyond. It has been a tough year with Presbytery Planning and although the Church has been floored we are not giving up. And yes, we know it is not all about buildings, but our building provides so many opportunities to bring people together - a haven in a busy world. We want to be Christ-like and that means being where the people are.

So your donations will be used for help do those wee things that make a building more welcoming and more accessible.

It is a bit of a maze - so internal signage and some dementia friendly signage is planned.

We are an information hub so we want to build a wellbeing corner where visitors and users can access information and support.

And our new cafe area will allow for drop-ins and conversation.

We are limited by what we can do at the moment but that doesn’t mean we do nothing.

We are incredibly grateful for all the support the Church receives and this is just because people keep asking when we are going to start our fundraising. We know it is tough times so be wise to your circumstances. We will run the marathon regardless of whether we raise a £1 or £1000 but knowing we are able to support this wonderful church family will be an extra motivation to get through those last 6miles!
