A large group of Hayley’s friends and family will be taking part in Starlight Walk to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder, in memory of our beautiful Hayley and to support the incredible work of St John’s Hospice.

We will all be walking together for different reasons, but ultimately, we are all walking for Hayley.

Darcy will be walking in memory of her Mummy. Jamie in memory of his partner. Roger in memory of his daughter, James in memory of his sister. Gaynor and Sarah in memory of their sister-in-law. Connie, Lottie, Charlie and Jacob in memory of their beloved auntie.

Alongside them will be so many of Hayley’s friends and their families: Sarah, James, Amalie, Louise, Mark, Devon, Libby, Jo, Marcus, Ava, Heidi, Tracey, Sue, Abby, Kate, Vicky, Nathan, Koben, Frankie, Jayne, Colette, Kate, Farrah, Nat, Cailin, Morgan, Arthur, Leanne, Poppy, Jenna, Khloe, Charlotte, Evie, Hugo, Alice, Georgia, Holly, Barry, Dave, Bev, Gina, Sally, Abi, Harry, Imi, Monika, Nick, Albert and Lily.

Last September, Hayley was admitted to St John’s Hospice shortly after receiving the devastating news that her cancer treatment was no longer working and that there was nothing further that could be done to treat her cancer.

It is a moment none of us ever imagined we would have to face.

Hayley was initially admitted to St John’s for treatment for lymphedema, but sadly, she quickly deteriorated. The care she received was nothing short of incredible.

The staff were some of the most caring and compassionate people we have ever met. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They did everything they could to keep Hayley comfortable, manage her pain and make sure she was cared for with dignity during the most unimaginable time.

But they did so much more than that.

They made Hayley feel special. They gave her massages, painted her nails and found little ways to bring comfort, normality and moments of happiness when they were needed most.

And their care extended beyond Hayley. They supported her family too — especially Jamie and Darcy — and they continue to be there for them even now.

Taking part in Starlight Walk is our way of saying thank you to St John’s Hospice for being there for Hayley when she needed them most, and for continuing to support the people she loved.

We are walking together in Hayley’s memory, for Darcy and Jamie, for our families, and for every family who may one day need the care and support that hospices provide.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Sue Ryder continue providing this vital care to people and families facing some of the hardest moments of their lives.
