Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

On 24th September 2023, our lives changed in an instant. David had suffered a ischemic stroke due to a dissection - a tear in his carotid artery. This resulted in severe brain damage affecting total mobility on his right side and asphasia. An avid sportsman, first-rate solicitor, hands on father and loving husband, it has been such a shock to see his zest for life stolen from him. However, being a Strong, David is overcoming this challenge every day, learning to walk, talk and regain all he was before. His motivation, determination and courage is unsurpassed and we are so proud of him. We have so much to thank The Royal London and Whipps Cross for. He is now awaiting a place at a Level 1 Neuro Rehabilitation Unit to continue his recovery.

I have sought help of The Stroke Association. They understand that when stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down and so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough but the brain can adapt. Their specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the support and encouragement of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, they can rebuild even more lives and it is The Stroke Association who we are campaigning for.
