Story

Last year I completed the London Marathon to celebrate turning 50 in January, to fulfil an ambition and to put a tick on my bucket list. Whilst doing this I also managed to raise a wonderful amount of money for charity thanks to the generosity of my family and friends and local businesses. My plan was to run one marathon and that would be it. However, I have been bitten by the bug! I loved every second of the race and I now have mistakes I’ve learnt from, things I’d do differently and a time to beat! I can’t wait to feel that start line adrenaline again on Sunday 27th April 2025.

I have been lucky enough to be offered a place to run for Young Lives Vs Cancer and feel very privileged to support this amazing charity who support families following their child’s devastating cancer diagnosis. A few years ago our friend’s granddaughter was diagnosed with leukaemia just before her 4th birthday and I know how heartbreaking this was for them. Fortunately she is now in remission but there are still lots of families out there who need support. Reading stories of other members of team Young Lives who are running next year because their own children have received a cancer diagnosis. Some types of cancer I didn’t even know children could get 😢 I’m so lucky that my children are fit and healthy which makes me more determined to raise as much money as I can to support those who aren’t so fortunate.

I know times are difficult financially for lots of people but any donation whatever the amount will be hugely appreciated by me and by Young Lives Vs Cancer.

Thank you ☺️

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
