We have been for some years now In the process of trying to build a new Scout Hut to replace our existing facility, which has long since passed its ‘expiry’ date and is slowly falling apart around us.

We had previously obtained planning permission on a new building, but sadly due to Covid the original fund raising push for this got stopped in its tracks, momentum was lost and potentially planning permission may have with it as well.

The pre-school that also operated out of the building have recently had to close, and despite numerous offers form various quarters to come and start new pre-schools, the building is sadly now not up to the required standard to satisfy Off-sted and meet other regulations.

A new building on the site has so much potential to various users within the local community, as there is a shortage of Community facilities within the Eastern Green area.

As a Scout group over the past 20 years, we have managed to raise ourselves and save a respectable £250k in readiness for a new building.  But with our estimated build costs at around £1 million we are considerably short of that target.
