I have been a Neonatal Nurse on SCBU for 14 years and have seen others fund raise for our babies so I decided that I could do the same. I have done these long walks before but this time myself and two of my friends will be going "Camino authentic". This means carrying everything with us, no baggage transfer, using the pilgrim hostels, no 4 star hotels and walking very fast to ensure we actually get a bed for the night!! (hopefully we won't be joined by the notorious bed bugs). We hope to walk 200 miles over the 3 weeks we are away through Northern Spain mountains following the Camino Primivito. My companions, Carole and Pam, are seasoned Camino walkers and have made the journey into Santiago on a previous occasion. They will therefore possibly be saying goodbye to me at Melide (unless I can persuade them otherwise) and I will be doing the last 50K or so on my own.

Any money that I raise will go directly into the SCBU Charity pot and will go towards upgrading our parents accommodation. We have 4 parents rooms on SCBU where parents can stay so they are not separated from their baby. I cannot stress how vital these rooms are for the families well being during such an incredibly stressful time. 2 of the rooms are ensuite but we would really like to also make the other 2 ensuites. We have a plan of how this can be achieved we just need the funds!!

Most families never dream that they would ever have to meet our wonderful Neonatal team but inevitably some have to. Please help us to make their journey just a little less traumatic by providing the best accommodation that we can.
