Story
I am taking part in the 2026 London Marathon to support St Barnabas Hospice to help them raise money to be able to provide care and support to people in Lincolnshire who need it most.
Last year my brother, Andy, was in there care for his final weeks of life. The care he received was second to none and will be eternally grateful for all they did to make him as comfortable as possible during his time there.
After last year's Ultramarathon we were overwhelmed from the donations Steve and myself received in which we raised over £1300. It wasn't until about six weeks after this run that I found out I had gained a place in the London Marathon. I had been trying for over ten years, it is such a popular event, they receive over one million entries into their ballot which offers approximately 40,00 places!. Usually I wouldn't keep pestering people for donations but this is such an iconic marathon and such a worth cause.
Any money you can donate to support me with this challenge would be greatly appreciated. You will be making a real difference to patients and families across Lincolnshire living with a life-limiting or terminal illness, ensuring St Barnabas can be there for them every day of the year.
By way of example, every £19.93 raised will enable St Barnabas to provide one hour of specialist at-home care to a patient living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
£30 will allow St Barnabas to provide a comfort bag for a child or young person. It includes a journal, mindfulness activities, books, colouring pens and pencils, a cuddle blanket with a holder for a photograph and ideas to make a memory box.
Donations of £50 would pay for the bereavement helpline to run for a day so St Barnabas can give urgent support
