Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of you will know that dad (Geoff Corkish) is currently undergoing cancer treatment and hopes to have an operation early this year to remove a tumor. Dad has been a huge supporter of the IOM Anti Cancer Charity on the Isle of Man having been a Chairman for the charity and is an Honorary President. The charity supports Island residents in their fight against the disease and also provides vital funds into research. Mum has also been affected by cancer herself and is now all clear! Whilst they do not live on the Island, Dave’s parents have also suffered and beaten cancer and so this run is for them also and we’ll be thinking of and doing this for them too.

In support of both sets of parents and the charity, Dave and I will be taking part in the Liverpool half marathon on 23rd March 2025. Well, Dave is running the half and I thought I was doing a 10k. Turns out I misread the info and it’s 10 miles!! ** EDIT- in a admin error by me, I’ve missed the 10 miler entry, so yep, I’m now doing the half as well *pray for me** . Whilst running comes a lot easier to Dave, he hasn’t ran this distance for some time and as for me, I’m not a runner, far from it! Having suffered sciatica in September 2023 followed by a slipped disc in the December, getting some fitness back has been a long road. With Dave’s (and Jarvis’) help, I completed the C25K and continued to push on with extending the distance with a training app.

This is a huge challenge for both Dave and I and in support of Dad and all those on Island affected by Cancer, we want to do our bit to support the IOM Anti Cancer charity who do so much to help people. We would appreciate your support by making a donation which will keep us going throughout our training and when taking part in the event.

We will keep you all posted on our progress, training and on the day of the event!
