Story

Hello! Next April both my Mum (Rosemary) and I will be running the London Marathon for The British Polio Fellowship. John (Dad) contracted polio when he was 4 back in 1950. He has always been the biggest supporter of mum, me and my siblings, in whatever we’ve been doing. As children, we learned very quickly how to help Dad hold us by clinging on to his collar bones and he always did everything he could to help and encourage us. He would always drive us places and pick us up after a few too many drinks at 1am to mention a few! He showed us that nothing was impossible and to be determined in whatever we are doing. I know that he has had to learn to adapt but he has never given up and has been an amazing role model for us all. This October Dad turns 80 and it’s also 75 years since he contracted polio. What better way to celebrate his amazing life and achievements than running a marathon because we don’t give up when things are tough!
