Story

🐾 WE’RE BACK AGAIN FOR OUR “SIXTH” 28 CHALLENGE! 🐾

WOOF WOOF! 🐶🎉

Albert and I are so excited to be taking part “The 28 Challenge” again this February to raise money for Hearing Dogs!

Over the last five years we’ve had so much fun raising money to help Hearing Dogs train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people, just like me and my hearing dog Albert ❤️

I don’t want to call this our last 28 Challenge (Albert would definitely object!😜), but we also have to be realistic. Albert will be 12 this summer and 12½ this time next year, so we’re taking things a little easier and doing what suits him best. Future challenges might look different, but what will never change is our love for Hearing Dogs and our determination to give back.

Just to reassure everyone straight away — Albert is very well and still working brilliantly. He absolutely loves what he does and is still my amazing superstar. As he’s getting a little older, I’m just more mindful about not pushing him and making sure everything we do is at his pace. His happiness, health and waggy tail always come first 🐾💙

That’s why this year’s challenge may look a little different. You might see some familiar challenges, but it’s still all about having fun together, making special memories, and raising money for this fantastic charity.

Before I explain what we’re doing this year, we just want to say a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who has supported us over the years ❤ Whether you’ve donated, shared our posts, cheered us on, or followed our journey — we honestly couldn’t have done any of this without you. Your support is the reason we were honoured to win a JustGiving Award last year. That award belongs to every one of you, and also celebrates the incredible work of Hearing Dogs. We are so incredibly grateful for the love, kindness and encouragement you continue to give us. It truly means more than words can say 🐾❤️

So, what are we doing this February? 👀

For 14 days, Albert and I will be doing a random daily challenge based on the number 28 — but we won’t be revealing what they are! You’ll have to tune in each day to see what we’ve been up to 😜📸

For the other 14 days, I’ll be doing something totally different. For the last four years, I’ve made 28 puppy raggers, but this year I’m challenging myself to make something new — snuffle balls! 🧶

My challenge is to make 2 snuffle balls a day, and all 28 snuffle balls will be donated to Hearing Dogs for their puppies to enjoy when they go to their volunteer puppy trainers. Albert will, of course, be supervising closely 🐶🐾😂

We will share our photos/videos across social media, so you can see what we have been up to.

Hearing dogs are highly trained to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds, such as smoke alarms, alarm clocks, intruder alarms and baby monitors. They also provide love, companionship and emotional support, which is so important as many deaf people can feel lonely and isolated.

There are so many little costs that all add up when training one of these amazing dogs. In total, it costs £25,000 to fully train an accredited hearing dog, which is why the 28 Challenge is such a great way to raise funds and change lives.

Hearing Dogs receive no central government funding which means that they rely on amazing supporters, sponsorships and fundraising.

I know times are tough, but every single donation, no matter how small — even £1 — truly helps. All money raised will go directly to Hearing Dogs to help them train more life-changing hearing dogs for deaf people, like Albert with me.

Albert and I have been together just over 10 years, and he has completely changed my life since day one. He is absolutely amazing and so clever. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him. He’s given me confidence, helped me achieve things I never thought I could, and he’s made me visible.

He’s my ears, my best friend, my companion, my whole world — and I love him to bits. It’s all thanks to Hearing Dogs. They are a truly fantastic charity, and we hope to raise as much as we can to help them ❤️🐶🐾

Please feel free to share our page with your family and friends. The more support we get, the more life-changing hearing dogs can be trained to help deaf people leave loneliness behind and have their best friend by their side ❤️

Thank you so much for your support — always.

We hope you enjoy following our challenge!

Sarah & Albert (Woof Woof!) 🐾❤️🐶
