I’m 2023 I signed up for the challenge of trekking along the Jordan Trail to discover the ancient Rose city of Petra, to help defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030. Unfortunately due to conflict near the area escalating, the Meningitis Research Foundation have made the difficult decision to cancel the trek. Whilst I was disappointed, I still knew I wanted to spend the year raising money for the charity and so I’ve devised my own challenge to keep the donation train running!

Whilst looking for alternative walks I found The Conqueror Virtual challenges, and among the walks they had a virtual version of the trek to Petra. I immediately signed up and have now set myself the challenge that from January 1st until September 28th (when I would have arrived in Jordan) I’m going to see how many The Conqueror Virtual challenges I can complete, starting with Petra, and then upping the stakes by starting with the largest distance on the site and working my way backwards. I’ll keep updating this just giving page as I go, and I’m hoping to have smashed through at least ten challenges by the end of September 2024.

Meningitis Research Foundation are at the heart of the initiative that is working with the World Health Organisation and leading experts on the disease to tackle meningitis globally. They have created a roadmap that was adopted by the World Health Organisation and will help to save lives across the world and help to stop families from experiencing this life changing disease.
