Story
Katharine House Hospice relies heavily on the generosity of the local community to continue delivering its services. It costs £16,261 per day to run the hospice, funding not only essential clinical care but also the many additional services that make such a profound difference — from bereavement support and art therapies to wellbeing activities, relaxation sessions and nourishing meals.
In 2016, my younger sister, Liney, passed away from bowel cancer. During her final weeks, she received exceptional end‑of‑life care from Katharine House Hospice and its dedicated teams, who also provided invaluable support to our family at an incredibly difficult time.
In 2025 the local Shipston legend 'Baggy' Saunders also received the exceptional care provided by the Katharine House Hospice when it was needed, as well as receiving support, care and compassion from the KHH Teams.
As the anniversaries of both Liney and Baggy passing approaches it feels meaningful to honour their memories by giving something back to the hospice that cared for them both so compassionately, I will be undertaking a trek along the Great Wall of China, raising vital funds in support of Katharine House Hospice.
For those who have not had direct experience of hospice care, it can be difficult to fully appreciate the breadth and impact of the work they do. However, the commitment, compassion and resilience shown by hospice professionals is truly remarkable, and their role in supporting patients and families cannot be overstated.
Your support will help ensure that Katharine House Hospice can continue providing compassionate, high‑quality care to patients and families for many years to come. Any donation, large or small, would be deeply appreciated and will help create a lasting legacy in Liney & Baggy's memory.
Please help ensure this fantastic hospice is here for many years to come.
