My beautiful son Teddy was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) in December 2024.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic condition that causes tumours to develop on the nerves and skin. While these tumours are usually non-cancerous, they can lead to serious complications such as nerve damage, vision loss, and chronic pain. NF is also associated with a range of other challenges, including scoliosis, epilepsy, high blood pressure, learning difficulties, cancer, and mental health issues.
It is a progressive condition, meaning symptoms and complications usually increase over time.
Currently, there is no cure.
This is why I am committed to raising awareness and funds to support vital NF research.
To kick things off, I will be running the London Marathon in April 2027.
Although I’ve completed five half marathons, this will be my first full marathon; an exciting but daunting challenge. I would be so grateful for your support along the way.
Right now, Teddy doesn’t have any tumours, but NF1 already affects his attention, coordination, and processing. Everyday activities like concentrating, completing tasks, learning to ride a bike and learning to swim are all more challenging for him.
All the money raised from my sponsorship will go directly to Nerve Tumours UK. The charity funds a Specialist Support Network, including regionally based nurses, a national helpline, and other essential services for individuals and families affected by NF across the UK. They rely entirely on donations to continue their work.
