Story
Right, picture this: me, someone who thinks walking to the fridge counts as cardio, has somehow decided to walk 26 miles for Macmillan in memory of my mum-in-law. Why, you ask? Because she was an incredible woman, Mother, Grandmother, and she is missed so much. Supporting a charity like Macmillan, who do amazing work for families like ours, felt like the right way to honor her. And, to be honest, I didn’t fully realize how far 26 miles was when I signed up. (Spoiler: it’s *really* far.)
I’m not exactly built for endurance—unless we’re talking about an all-you-can-eat buffet—but I’m determined to complete this challenge. My training so far has included power-waddling up hills, avoiding rogue dogs who think I’m their new best friend, and wondering why my knees sound like a creaky staircase.....this then expanded into doing 10,000 steps a day throughout May and June (July if it gets over £500)...and maybe a sponsored silence (apparently i don't shut up).
The truth is, this walk isn’t going to be pretty. There will be blisters, heavy breathing, and probably an embarrassing snack-to-mile ratio. But every step will be taken with my mum in mind and the incredible work Macmillan does. They were there for her, and now I want to give something back.
This is where you come in! I’ve set a goal to raise £1,000, and I need your help to get there. Every pound you sponsor will not only motivate me to keep walking (and walking... and walking) but will also make a real difference for people facing cancer.
So, please, dig deep and sponsor me. Think of it this way: the more you give, the more pressure I’ll feel to finish this thing—and trust me, I need all the encouragement I can get! Let’s do this together and make every step count. Thank you!
