✨ Running for PMDD Awareness & Support ✨
After being one of the lucky ones to receive a relatively quick diagnosis, I finally know why, for up to two weeks of every month, I felt like a completely different person: I have PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder).
PMDD is a severe hormone-based mood disorder that affects around 1 in 20 women and those assigned female at birth. It’s often described as an extreme form of PMS, but in reality, it’s far more debilitating. Symptoms can include intense mood swings, depression, anxiety, anger, exhaustion, and physical pain—severe enough to disrupt work, relationships, and everyday life - which is a true reflection of my experience of life with PMDD.
The journey to this point hasn’t been easy, but since getting my diagnosis and a plan to start treatment, I’ve regained something I thought I had lost—hope.
Despite how life-altering it is, PMDD remains largely misunderstood and under-recognised. Thousands of women are struggling—many without even knowing what PMDD is.
That’s why I’m supporting The PMDD Project, a UK charity dedicated to this condition. They provide a safe, supportive space where women can be heard, believed, and not feel alone.
On 5th October 2025, I’ll be running the Rotherham 10K to raise money for this incredible charity. My hope is that, in time, PMDD will be spoken about openly and taken as seriously as any other health condition.
🧡🩷 Please consider donating—no matter how small—to support women living with PMDD and to help spread vital awareness. Every contribution truly makes a difference 💫.
