Story
Parkinson's is the fastest growing degenerative neurological condition in the world. 1 in 37 people alive today will be diagnosed with Parkinson's in their lifetime. There is currently no cure. There are more than 40 symptoms ranging from the physical symptoms like tremor or muscle stiffness to depression, anxiety and, memory problems. Parkinson’s affects everyone differently making it challenging to treat.
My mum has been living with Parkinson's for several years. Her experience and resilience, and my dad’s in his support and care, have inspired me to fund raise for Parkinson's UK. The national, and especially local, support they provide to people living with Parkinson's and their family members is invaluable.
Giving myself a physical challenge seemed a good way of relating to the sometimes extreme physical challenges of living with Parkinson's.
I haven't run for well over ten years, and even when I did it wasn't with much purpose. This time I have a meaningful goal and am determined to achieve it.
Thank you for your support!
