🌸 Running Tokyo for Alice’s WonderDance 🌸
I feel incredibly fortunate to have won my place and hotel accommodation for the Tokyo Marathon. Because of this, I really want to give something back along the journey and try to raise some funds for a cause that truly matters.
I have chosen Alice’s WonderDance for several reasons. Few people could fail to be in awe of the dignified, courageous response from the parents of Alice, Elsie, and Bebe after the tragic events in Southport – a horror beyond comprehension. Their determination to channel such unimaginable loss into so many positives to support others in the community is extraordinary.
Sergio’s fundraising challenge has especially resonated with me. He is completing all six World Major Marathons in just twelve months, an incredible feat of physical and mental resilience. 👏 His efforts, and the purpose behind them, have inspired me deeply.
Having been lucky enough to win my entry into the Tokyo Marathon – my 5th of the 6 stars – I wanted this to be a race where I ran for a cause that is meaningful, heartfelt, and close to home. I want to show my support to Sergio, Alexandra and their family as they build Alice’s WonderDance in their precious daughter’s name.
As a Southport mum, my thoughts and my heart remain with all the families.
I hope that through this run and fundraiser I can raise even a small amount to honour Alice and support the positive legacy her parents are creating.
Thank you so much for anything you can give.
About Alice's WonderDance Foundation - words from Alexandra & Sergio:
Alice’s WonderDance, is a foundation created and inspired by the name of our Daughter Alice Da Silva Aguiar who we tragically lost last July 2024 in the Southport attack. Since that day nothing has returned or will ever be the same again.
But we don’t look back with sadness — we move forward with purpose, spreading the same energy and love that Alice brought to every space she danced in.
We believe dance is more than movement, it’s freedom, creativity, connection, and joy. Our work removes barriers so that every child can access dance, explore their passion, and grow through movement in a safe, empowering space.
All funds raised will go directly to Alice’s WonderDance Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Community Foundation Lancashire and Merseyside.
