Sarah's Marathon Challenge in Partnership with Lignacite

Sarah Franks is raising money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices

The Atlantic Coast Challenge Marathon · 4 October 2026

Lignacite is proud to support EACH as our 2026 Charity of the Year. From our COO Nick’s REACH THE PEAKS challenge to team events, we're raising funds to provide vital care for local children with life-threatening conditions and their families.

Story

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am raising monies for the East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH). Last year with my support my husband (Nick) managed to raise over £10,000 for completing more than 500 kilometres across 10 Ultra Challenges. This year I have decided to get in on the act!!

In 2026, we are taking on Reach for the Peaks, a year long challenge that begins with climbing the highest peaks in England, Wales, and Scotland. All of this is preparation for the three major challenges that Nick will take on:

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa

Completing the 24 Peak Challenge in the Lake District—described as one of the toughest treks in the UK

Running three marathons in three days along the dramatic clifftop trails of the Cornish coastal path

I will be joining Nick on his Snowdon trek, a challenge in itself, having come back from a broken ankle in 2025. But I will also be completing my first ever Marathon as I join Nick on his final day of the three marathons in October to make sure, he crosses the line.

If any of you know me, will know this is a huge challenge for me, having never done more than a long dog walk previously and am already starting to train for it at the beginning of February. I am not sure how I got myself in this position and more than a little scared of what I have taken on.

I am raising funds for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), who provide compassionate, specialist care for children and young people with life threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

Their support reaches families wherever they need it most—whether that’s at home, in hospital, or at one of their hospices: Milton, The Treehouse, and The Nook.

Their work is only possible through the generosity of others, which is why I’ve committed to raising as much money as I can. Every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure that EACH can continue offering vital care to families during their most difficult moments.

All funds raised go directly to EACH. I’m incredibly grateful to Lignacite for sponsoring me throughout this challenge—meaning that none of your donations will be used to cover costs.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you find it worthy enough to donate to.
