Story

Years ago, I discovered the beauty of walking to London by following the Basingstoke Canal right at my doorstep. From that moment, my journey expanded, connecting rivers, canals, and the sea, all while tracing the waterways from my hometown. The Basingstoke Canal serves as a vital green corridor, linking towns and villages while providing a peaceful escape from busy roads and hectic lifestyles. It is cherished by dog walkers, boaters, canoeists, and families who enjoy visiting their local ducks.

However, this precious canal needs our support. The Basingstoke Canal Society does an incredible job maintaining this beautiful resource, but upkeep comes with costs that require our collective effort. In May 2025, I will be participating in the LDWA Flower of Suffolk Hundred event by walking 100 miles non-stop—an ambitious challenge I have never attempted before.

I am raising funds to express my gratitude for all the joy and connection I have experienced over the years thanks to the canal. My target is to raise £500 for The Basingstoke Canal Society. If you are able to contribute and wish to give back to this wonderful canal that has brought so much happiness into our lives, your support would mean the world to me.
