Story
I was diagnosed with bipolar at the age of 15, experiencing psychosis and hospitalisation. This was in a time when there wasn’t as much knowledge or acceptance of psychosis in the mainstream media and I was therefore subjected to a lot of stigma and lack of understanding by my peers.
I want to raise money for Heads Up Kids as they are vital in connecting and socialising children with mental health difficulties, allowing them to make connections with others that can relate to their experiences and potentially reducing shame based behaviours that increase the risk of suicidal ideation, development of dangerous coping mechanisms and ultimately the ability to not only manage but thrive in life in the face of adversity.
