Story

Fundraiser Story:

Hi, my name is Satnam Singh and I’m raising funds in support of an incredible organisation called M.A.T.E (Men and Their Emotions), a Facebook group of over 56,000 men helping one another through mental health struggles, addiction, and emotional challenges.

This group has been a lifeline for me. Thanks to the support I found there, I’ve been sober for over two years. Before getting sober, I didn’t fully understand the depth of my anxiety and depression. But with the help of this community, I’ve turned my life around. I now live with peace, purpose, and pride.

To honour this transformation and raise awareness, I’m embarking on an incredible journey, trekking to Everest Base Camp and summiting Island Peak which is 6,189 meters above sea level in Nepal’s Himalayas. The trek will begin on 10th October 2025, and I aim to complete my summit by 4th November 2025.

Let me be clear, I’ve never done a trek like this before, and I’ve certainly never climbed a mountain in my life. This is entirely out of my comfort zone, but I’m doing it because I believe in what’s possible. If I can achieve two years of sobriety, I know I can take on this mountain. And I want to do this for everyone out there still suffering with mental health issues, addiction, or emotional struggles. I want to show you that when you seek help and start working on yourself, you can achieve anything.

Life is beautiful. Life is great.

Why This Matters:

Mental health continues to take lives, especially among men who often feel they can’t talk about what they’re going through. M.A.T.E (Men and Their Emotions) offers a safe, supportive space where men can speak openly and honestly without fear of judgment.

This group helps men dealing with:

• Mental health and emotional challenges

• Addiction to alcohol or drugs

• Grief and loss of loved ones

• Relationship breakdowns and family issues

• Loneliness and isolation

It’s where I learned to express myself and stop suffering in silence. Without this group, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

How Funds Will Be Used:

The £6,000 raised will go directly toward supporting men in crisis. Your donation will help fund:

• Therapy and addiction treatment

• Essential support for men sleeping rough (clothing, food, shelter)

• Group therapy sessions and peer support initiatives

• Continued outreach to men struggling with emotional pain, addiction, or trauma
