Coronation Day - Volunteering for Volunteers · 8 May 2023

Daybreak provides therapeutic respite days for people living with dementia. Helping couples stay together at home, thus delaying or avoiding residential care.

Story

At Summertown Clinic, every year we like to do a work for charity day, which was inspired by Oxfam over 10 years ago. We invite our practitioners to come in during a bank holiday (often Good Friday but this year we chose the Coronation Bank Holiday), to work for free. Our patients get the same excellent care and service, but we encourage them to donate to the clinic's charity of choice (voted for by those working the day).

This year we're delighted to be supporting Daybreak clubs which exist to support those living in Oxfordshire who are struggling with a dementia diagnosis and to support their families who are caring for them at home.

Their clubs offer stimulating activities, including music, arts, physical games, and every day our members enjoy a social lunch together. Daybreak combats social isolation and lack of cognitive stimulation which can plague those with dementia, as well as their families.

Please give generously to this great cause!
