Myself (Lauren), Anna, Lizzie & Luna 🐾 are going to tackle Scafell Pike in April to raise money for Rotherham Hospice. We wanted a challenge, and this seemed like the perfect way to do it.

Sadly, we lost our Mum (Lauren & Anna) to Peritoneal Cancer in November 2023. She fought for 3 strong years and even until the very end, always put other people first and never once complained.

She spent her last moments at Rotherham Hospice after a few weeks there due to the worsening of her symptoms. The care and support that she received is something that we will never forget and will always be beyond thankful for.

We’ve always thought of a hospice as a place that no one ever wants to be, but the level of empathy, compassion and love that the staff there provide, has made us realise what an absolute blessing they are - especially during end of life care.

Rotherham Hospice were incredible in the way that they cared for Mum – anything she needed, they had it covered. Any worries, concerns, or questions, they had the answers.

Not only did the staff care for mum, they supported and looked out for us as a family, in a way that we never expected - informing us of any updates, keeping an uplifting atmosphere, even just making us a cuppa and being a shoulder to cry on.

There is not a doubt in our minds that the Hospice was the best place for mum to be during her last days, she was made to feel at ease, comfortable and safe.

The Hospice does crucial work supporting those with a terminal illness.

- £20 raised could pay for a counselling session for bereaved families, friends and loved ones.

- £50 raised could pay for a tank of petrol for the community team to visit a patient in their home.

- £100 raised could pay for a Health Care Support Worker on the InPatient Unit for a day.
