Story
This Summer we’ll be walking the Suffolk Coastal Path from Wednesday 9th July to Sunday 13th July to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Bee, John and the many others who have died from this devastating disease, including James Straker and Kim Morris.
We would love it if you could either by join us on the walk and raise funds with us or sponsor us in any way you can. Bee’s tribute page has already raised over £10,000 through the incredible generosity of friends and family — and with your help, we’re hoping to raise even more!
We plan to do the 60 mile walk over 5 days in the following stages:
Wednesday - 17 miles. Lowestoft to Dunwich
Thursday - 14.5 miles. Dunwich to Snape
Friday - 11 miles. Snape to Orford
Saturday - 10.5 miles. Orford to Hollesley
Sunday - 9.5 miles. Hollesley to Felixstowe (where we will book a pub/arrange a picnic to celebrate the end of our epic journey!)
Thanks so much for your support!
About Pancreatic Cancer UK:
Around 10,500 people a year are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK, but it has the lowest cancer survival rate with around 9,000 dying every year. As well as unimaginable odds, patients also face limited treatment options and are often not diagnosed until the cancer is at a late stage. Sadly 7 in 10 people are diagnosed too late to receive any treatment at all.
With your support, Pancreatic Cancer UK is aiming to double survival rates, so that many more people survive to live long and well. Research is the answer, and progress is coming, but more investment is needed to accelerate the breakthroughs so badly needed for people facing this awful disease and save lives.
Your generosity by donating is making a massive difference to people facing pancreatic cancer today and in the future: enabling Pancreatic Cancer UK's specialist nurses to answer more calls; funding ground-breaking research; and campaigning to make pancreatic cancer a priority.
A test for pancreatic cancer is finally within reach and because of the generous support from people like you, you are helping to make early detection a reality.
How your donations will help:
£26.20 could help researchers grow pancreatic cancer cells in the lab, to be used to identify new biological markers of cancer.
£50 could help spark the breakthroughs in the early detection of pancreatic cancer that we so desperately need.
£100 could allow researchers to study the genetic changes which could make people more likely to develop pancreatic cancer in 6 patient samples.
£261 could fund one day of cutting-edge research with the power to make early diagnosis a reality.
£500 could fund eighteen people to join one of our online support sessions hosted by a specialist nurse.
£1,280 could fund one day of the Pancreatic Cancer UK Support Line.
£2,500 could fund two weeks of ground-breaking research developing new treatments for pancreatic cancer.
£3,069.66 could pay to develop one information video for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
£10,000 could support a Future Leader for 4 months. Today’s PhD students will be tomorrow’s leaders in pancreatic cancer research. The support to train in world class research institutes alongside the brightest research minds using cutting edge technology ensures that the PhD students at our Future Leader Academy are fully equipped to deliver the new treatments and therapies that are so desperately needed.
