Story

Welcome to Our JustGiving Page!

We’re so glad you’re here! Your support means the world to us, and we hope you find all the information you need to be part of this incredible journey.

Meet the Team

🏃 Amy – A brand-new runner who found a 5K parkrun daunting just months ago. This journey has been as much a mental challenge as a physical one, but step by step, she’s learning to love running!

🏃‍♂️ Jared – An experienced runner who has tackled marathons before. This year, injuries have made training a challenge, so he’s committing to the half marathon instead. He’s our pro—keeping us fuelled, motivated, and kitted out!

🏃 Faith – Another newcomer to running, but she’s taken to it with passion! Training hard, she’s aiming for a two-hour finish—an incredible achievement for someone so new to the sport!

🏊‍♂️🏃 Ben – A natural swimmer who’s now diving into the world of running. While he’s still waiting to feel the same love for running as Faith, his training has been impressive!

About the Charity: Tumaini Children’s Charity

Tumaini Children’s Charity is a UK-based, volunteer-run organization dedicated to transforming the lives of children in Kenya. Tumaini is a Swahili word meaning "hope". They provide essential needs such as clothing, shelter, and education, helping break the cycle of poverty through learning and vocational pathways. https://www.tumainichildrenscharity.org/ourwork

How It All Began…

In 1998, Paul (7) and Susan (5) were living on the streets of Gitamaiyu, Kenya, after their mother was taken into police custody. Alone and without support, they wandered daily in search of food and shelter.

David Hinga saw them enter his church and was so moved that he and his wife, Alice, took them into their home until their mother could care for them again. Paul and Susan went on to finish their education at what is now Tumaini Brooks School, which today supports over 600 students!

Our Mission: Raising £2,500 for a Lunchtime Shade

We’re fundraising to provide a lunchtime shade for senior students at Tumaini Brooks School. This will create a welcoming space for students to eat outside during warmer weather and offer them an area to gather and socialize—something we love doing as a family.

🌞 Why It Matters:

Creates a comfortable outdoor space for students to eat and socialize.

Provides shelter from the hot sun during break times.

Fosters a sense of community—something we love as a family!

Why We’re Supporting This Cause

We were deeply inspired by Tumaini’s personal connections with each child. The charity doesn’t just provide support from afar—they actively visit the school, deliver handmade gifts, and encourage direct child sponsorship opportunities.

Right now, a group of volunteers is even knitting beanies for all 600 students! ❤️

With seven children of our own, we understand the power of community and education. We feel incredibly fortunate in our own lives, and we want to give back in a meaningful way.

Your support—big or small—will help us reach our goal and make a real difference.
