SCOOT 4 NEPAL 1000Km across Nepal on a pink Scooter!

Anthony Hobden is raising money for SHIVA Charity

Motorbike across Nepal · 10 November 2026

SHIVA Charity promotes education in Nepal and Sri Lanka. We improve buildings, equipment, teaching, and subsidizing teachers' pay. It has built 28 nursery schools in Sri Lanka to replace those destroyed by the tsunami. It is helping victims of the Nepal earthquake ... committed to action not words.

Story

After years of increasingly difficult fund raising challenges for SHIVA charity, like cycling from his home in Somerset to Paris alone, Walking Hadrien’s wall, Cycling the NC500 in the Scottish Highlands in 5 days and many others, Tony, the chairman of SHIVA charity is going all out for this challenge – one that will test him beyond anything before!

Scoot 4 Nepal not only is the longest mission, but also the most mentally and physically challenging one for this aging fundraiser! Having never ridden a motorbike before, he has just taken his bike test in the UK and will be familiarising himself with the task of off-road riding on a borrowed 125cc scooter in the UK over the summer.

The project concept was conceived on Tony’s last visit to Nepal in 2025, where he was astounded by the terrain that native riders would take on and after conversations with Nepalese colleagues from the charity, the plan was hatched!

1000km, off-road, across some of the most rugged routes in Nepal, on a bright pink 125cc scooter!

Not widely considered an ‘adventure bike’ this 125cc pocket rocket will be really awkward to navigate across such terrain, it’ll be dangerous, tiring and as Tony won’t be able to stand up – his backside will hate him for weeks afterwards!

The journey will be fully visible, content will be created and uploaded leading up to the event, daily during the challenge and captured in a documentary being made by a film maker from New Zealand.

There is a long journey ahead, physically and metaphorically, so if this captures your imagination and you’d like to support the mission, please get in touch with our team at hobphin@gmail.com

We are looking not only for donations that will all go towards the crucial work that SHIVA charity carry out in providing water purification systems and toilet facilities for schools in Nepal, but also for sponsors to help with some of the costs involved in embarking on such a monumental challenge. All details can be provided on request.
