ScotJam Volunteers - Glasgow Kiltwalk

Kiltwalk Glasgow - Big Stroll · 30 April 2023
Five of the incredible ScotJam Volunteers are taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on Saturday 30th April. They'll be walking the 14.4 miles from Clydebank to the shores of Loch Lomond at Balloch.
ScotJam is week long residential experience for Cubs and Scouts at the amazing Scouts Adventures Lochgoilhead. Over the course of the week participants take part in a wide range of activities including climbing, abseiling and paddle sports.
ScotJam is a unique event, we have individual Cubs & Scouts attending from all over Scotland. ScotJam is all about new opportunities and new friendships.
I had so much fun, I liked the badge programme. It was great to try so many activities. The Burn Run as my favourite. (Scout, ScotJam 2022)
I had never really done something like this before, so I didn’t know what to expect but after coming home I one-hundred percent know that I had a brilliant time. (Cub, ScotJam 2022)
Whilst at ScotJam Cubs & Scouts will take part in a wide range of both land and water based activities.
[Cub] often lack’s confidence in new situations which has much improved since coming home. (Parent, ScotJam 2022)
[Cub] was at ScotJam as the only member from their group. They were very nervous about this but made new friends. They enjoyed being outside as much as they were. (Parent, ScotJam 2022)
My [Scout] has never attended a camp for this length and loved the opportunities to try everything.
The money that the team raise will be used by Scouts Scotland to support ScotJam, helping to reduce barriers and make ScotJam as accessible as possible. One of our biggest costs is transport. We provided coach travel from several Scottish cities to enable participants to take part from all corners of Scotland, whilst also taking into consideration our environmental footprint.
We'd like to subsidise the coaches, to enable participants to pay a reduced rate. We're also looking to setup a fund, that will enable us to offer families fully or partially funded places at ScotJam.
