We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

Meet Bonnie, a tiny kitten with a big personality and a difficult start to life.

Bonnie is approximately nine weeks old and arrived at the Scotland Cat Centre in July alongside her mum, Maisey, and siblings Spot and Spyro. The family had been living on a farm after Maisey was found following the farmer around. When the farmer discovered her kittens, sadly two had already passed away. Maisey and her three surviving kittens were moved somewhere safe while they waited to come into Cats Protection's care.

Sadly, Bonnie arrived with a significant injury to her left hind leg. She is currently unable to use the lower part of her leg normally and has to put weight on her knee to get around. Our vets believe the leg may have been dislocated before she came into our care or that she may have been born with a congenital deformity.

Initially, it was thought that Bonnie's leg might be amputated when she was older. However, after further veterinary assessment, our vets have advised that the kindest option is now to proceed with the amputation sooner rather than later.

Despite everything she's been through, Bonnie is still a young kitten with her whole life ahead of her. With the right treatment and care, we hope she can put this difficult start behind her and go on to enjoy all the things a kitten should - playing, exploring and finding a loving forever home.

Will you help us give Bonnie the best possible start to the rest of her life?

Her surgery and ongoing care will come at a significant cost to the Scotland Cat Centre, and your donation could help us provide the treatment she needs.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Even £2 could help towards Bonnie's care and the care of other cats and kittens who need us.

Thank you for helping Bonnie take her next steps.

Any funds raised beyond our target will be used to support other cats and kittens in our care.
