LOROS My Story

AUNTY SYLVIA’S WISH !

I really wanted to briefly explain to you why i would like to run and represent LOROS in the London marathon next year ,

After running many marathons in the past and raising a lot of money for charity ,i had decided to run my last two marathons back to back in a week in 2021,

I then moved on to cycling to keep my fitness level going ,and sadly like others indulged in food during COVID ,putting a little weight on ,

With every achievement I've made and charity event I've ever done my Auntie Sylvia has always supported me and encouraged me to help others ,

Sadly last year she got terminal cancer and passed away , her wish was to go into LOROS and peacefully slip away there ,a week before she passed away ,her wish was to return home to be with the family ,

I went to take my dad to visit her at this point i knew it would be the last time ,she called for me to go in and see her ,she put on a good show ,as I'm, sure the pain was unbearable,

In the 5 mins i got with her. She told me she was proud of my achievements and for helping others ,and then went onto ask if i was still running ,before i could answer she asked would you run the London marathon for Loros and for her and raise Loros some money ?

I responded of course yes ,

So this is very personal to me that i run this event for you and also in memory of her ,

This why I’ve called it Aunty Syliva’s Wish !

This also will be a personal goal for me as both coming out of running retirement and I'm losing a stone and a half to do this ,of which i have nearly achieved,

Thank you to Loros and to the supporters for giving me the chance through your kind a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
