Story
In honour of what would have been my dad's 60th birthday we've came up with a challenge of walking 60k(37 miles) encompassing some important places throughout my dad's life to raise funds for St Andrews hospice in his memory.
My dad sadly lost his life in 2010 at the age of 45 years old after a brave 2 year battle with a brain tumour caused by a glioblastoma cancer of which he was diagnosed at only 43 years old. He spent the last 6 weeks of his life receiving world class care and compassion at St Andrews hospice in Airdrie and for this our family will be forever grateful.
The walk will start from Airdrie via st Andrews hospice, John Fernie's homes in Burnfoot, Easterhouse and Cranhill to his place of birth in Temple and back to the West end Bar in Airdrie for a few beers to celebrate his life and legacy.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help a charity close to our family and many other's hearts to keep providing the vital support they do to let people spend their final days with as much dignity and comfort as possible.
At St Andrew’s Hospice, we aim to ensure our patients live as actively as they can, for as long as they can and ensure they have the best quality of life possible. Your support will help us to provide compassionate, expert care and support tailored to meet the individual needs of our patients and their loved ones - both in the Hospice and across Lanarkshire.
Thank you!
