Story
Hello everyone,
In 2020, after the birth of our second child, Rosie, my wife Penny experienced postpartum psychosis — a rare but incredibly serious perinatal mental health condition. It turned our world upside down. Penny spent five months in the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) in Stafford, receiving lifesaving treatment and specialist support while staying close to Rosie.
During the most frightening time of our lives, Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) were there for us. They supported Penny throughout her recovery and were a lifeline for me and our family. Their work helps so many families who suddenly find themselves facing something they never expected, and we will always be grateful.
This year, I’m running the Chester 10K and the Chester Half Marathon to raise funds for APP, to help them continue offering this vital support to other families going through what we did.
I’m not doing this alone. Penny’s best friend Rachel is also running the Chester 10K for APP. Her dedication and positivity inspired me to sign up too — so we’ll be tackling this challenge together, all for a cause that means the world to us.
Why APP?
They support women and families affected by postpartum psychosis.
They fund research, raise awareness, and campaign for better services.
Most importantly, they help families feel less alone at a terrifying time.
Any donation, big or small, will help APP continue their incredible work and support more families like ours.
Thank you so much for reading and for supporting us. It genuinely means the world.
