Scott's fundraiser for Alzheimer Scotland

Scott Martin is raising money for Alzheimer Scotland

Marathon Walk Round my block pushing friends on a wheelchair · 19 July 2025

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.

As most of my friends know, my hero of a wee Mum has suffered from Dementia for many years and I always like to do my bit to raise funds for the fantastic charity that is Alzheimer’s Scotland. Too many people and families are affected by this horrible thing and it seems to be getting worse as our population lives longer.

I have witnessed first hand the fantastic work that Alzheimer’s Scotland do and have been privileged to visit their resource centres, and I want to do my bit to raise funds for them having previously written a book, did a skydive, an abseil, and a zip slide for the cause.

On this occasion I originally had planned to push my wee Mum Anne on her wheelchair for 26.2 miles around our scheme but have decided that this would be too much for her.

So the plan is to get 20 of my friends on the chair for a mile each and get my Mum out for the grand finale and make up the magical Marathon distance of 26.2 miles.

To assist on fundraising, whoever is in the chair will be holding a bucket where anyone passing by can put anything they see fit in, no matter how large or small that sum may be. Obviously the Just Giving page will be live as well, and every single penny raised will go to the charity.

I have pencilled in the date of July 19th to do this but if the weather is poor it may switch to the following day as obviously it won’t be great people getting drenched on the day simply for doing me a good turn, and I wouldn’t expect them to do that.

Please support me in this quest. Some of my friends are maybe not quite as “skinny” as me so it could be quite a challenge shall we say.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Best Wishes

Scott.
