Leith Distillery Abseil 2026 · 10 May 2026 ·

Dads Rock aims to improve the lives of vulnerable children. We organise activities for parents to help them to look after and engage with their children in a fun and positive way. Our services are for the whole family with a focus on supporting dads who often feel excluded from parenting services.

Story

Abseil for Dads Rock

I’m doing an abseil off the Leith Distillery in Edinburgh to raise money for Dads Rock a charity that has helped both myself and my family. It’s not something I would ever do but this is a charity very close to my heart.

I started going along to Dads Rock when Maisie was 3 months old (she's now 1) and it’s been game changing for us. I wasn’t confident in my own ability as a dad and heavily relied on Rosie in the first few months, I had no confidence in being on my own and being responsible for a wee human, but Dads Rock gave me a non judgemental and safe space that allowed me to become confident in my ability and be the dad Maisie needs. The support that Dads Rock offers is amazing for families and I cannot recommend it enough for families with new family members

As well as the support, I’ve made amazing friends through Dads Rock, people that not only I would call close friends, but also people that Rosie and Maisie would call friends. The community that we have been able to be part of has been invaluable to us. When they say it takes a village to raise a child, these friends have become a main part of our village for Maisie.

Dads Rock supports fathers who might be struggling with isolation, mental health, confidence, or just needing a bit of support. By helping dads, they’re also helping children — as they say “children thrive when dads thrive”

This abseil, which I can honestly say I’m not looking forward to, can raise money that will hugely benefit Dads Rock. All the money raised will help Dads Rock continue to:

●Support dads and families

●Create positive experiences for fathers and their children and families

●Build friendships and strong support networks

●Be there for families when it really matters

Any donation, big or small, would mean a lot. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page would be hugely appreciated.

I’ve benefited so much from the support that Ryan and the Dads Rock time have given me. Maisie, Rosie and I have made amazing memories and experiences from Dads Rock and made some lifelong friends. This abseil is only a tiny way that I can start to give something back to Dads Rock.
