Story
Those of you that know me will know I am mad about sport and the origins of this challenge go back to 21/12/22 and the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Amongst the many great winners that night the one that stood out for me was Leeds Rhino's legend Rob Burrow winning the Helen Rollason Award and his best mate Kevin Sinfield receiving a special award for his amazing achievements in raising funds and awareness around Motor Neurone Disease (MND) that had affected his best mate Rob. Just prior to this we also had the sad passing of Doddie Weir from MND and you may have seen Kenny Logan's great fundraising efforts in his honour during the Rugby World Cup. That is the inspiration behind this challenge - mates helping mates out and doing things in their memory that have or are suffering from this debilitating condition.
So sat on the sofa back in December of last year I set myself the goal of running 5km every day throughout 2023. I did not want to start funding raising until now as to be honest anything could happen. With less than 2 months to go though and already over 300 consecutive days under my belt I feel that I have already done something significant to ask for your kind support.
Given the inspiration behind this challenge I am raising funds for the MND Association. They focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. By sponsoring me your money will help people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
If you can, any support you can give will be most welcome
