Story
One year ago we had Willow diagnosed with Autism at the age of 6. She is my super hero and inspires me every day. We speak openly with Willow about her autism and she is super brave, however, some days are a real struggle.
We work hard in order for her to have everything in place to make her life as happy and comfortable as possible. However, I constantly found myself apologising for her. Why am I apologising? Because she doesn’t want to say hello, or she doesn’t want a kiss or cuddle goodbye, or that because she sometimes just doesn’t talk, or because she is wearing sunglasses so she can become “invisible”? I promised myself I wouldn't apologise anymore. She is perfect the way she is.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how people communicate, learn, interact with others, and behave. More is needed to raise awareness, educate and help people understand how Autism can affect people and what can be done to make little lives that little bit happier. So, I've decided to put my money where my mouth is!
In April 2025, I will be taking on the London Marathon. For anyone that knows me, from my slightly large frame to my glass knees, knows this is a huge challenge for me. But with the driver I have, I am so excited. In order to raise money for the National Autistic Society and help raise awareness around Autism, please sponsor me! All contributions will be gratefully received.
From now on, I won't be apologising, I'll just simply be running! 26 Miles.
Willow Smith - My super hero. Limitless, Unique, Fearless, Unstoppable.
Thank you all,
Scott x
