Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 8th of June 2024, 9 of us are taking on the 'National 3 Peaks Challenge'... this will involve climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon - all within 24 hours.
I will be fundraising for Brain Tumor Support to help aid vital research, alongside raising awareness & support for everyone affected by a brain tumour which has sadly affected us all due to the illness of a family friend.
Life was completely normal for Geoff up until the morning of 5th November 2023.
At home that morning, he experienced uncontrollable spasms on the left side of his body. His wife Carol called the emergency services for assistance and Geoff was taken to hospital.
When entering the hospital, Geoff had a huge seizure and had to be sedated to help ease the seizures he was experiencing.
Whilst in hospital, further tests were carried out, where unfortunately scans identified a brain tumor.
After further appointments with the neurological team, a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumor was confirmed.
Geoff had an operation on the 30th November to remove as much of the tumor as possible & is currently undergoing treatment consisting of radiotherapy & chemotherapy, which is due to finish this month.
We hope the treatment is successful & Geoff has many good times ahead.
In our local community, there have been other friends & families that have also been affected by this awful type of brain tumor - this hike will also be in honour of them.
Glioblastomas are a fast growing type of brain tumour. They are the most common type of cancerous brain tumour in adults, which currently cannot be cured.
Well, a cure can’t wait & with your help and support, we know one will be found sooner.
Thank you!
