Story

After 23 years of incredible volunteer service as a Competition Coordinator and Chief Judge for both ClimbScotland and GB Climbing, Scott Forsyth will be hanging up his Gillet and retiring from volunteering at competitions. His last event as Chief Judge will be YSC Round 4 in Kilmarnock on Saturday 4th November 2023.

We have setup a JustGiving page in support of Climbers Against Cancer, to allow people to donate to a charity very close to Scott’s heart as a way of saying thank you. We would be delighted if you could leave Scott a personal message on the page.

We know that many athletes and their families across the UK will want to be able to say thank you to Scott for the amazing service that he has given to Competition Climbing Community for so very many years. Scott has tirelessly supported youth, senior, and para events across all climbing disciplines: Boulder, Lead, Spead and Ice Climbing. He has supported local fun competitions, YCS rounds, National Cup Series across the Home Nations, British Championship Series, European Cups and Championships and World Cup events. We have lost count of the number of events he has volunteered to support…

We asked Scott’s permission for us to set up this JustGiving page, in his usually imitable style, he said, …”you know you don’t need to do that” – our response was, well we think there are a lot of people who would like to say thank you to you….

We plan to keep the page open until Friday 3rd November, and will make a presentation to Scott after his last YCS round on Saturday 4th November.

We’re not able to get in touch with all the climbers and their families that Scott has supported over the years, so please share with the climbers in your community so that they are able to leave their own personal message to Scott.

Edit: This is parent led and has been organised by families of youth climbers.
