Hamish's fundraiser for Hearts and Balls

Scottish 3 peaks challenge · 25 June 2025
On June 25th myself and a few friends/family members will be taking on the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, back to back (Ben Macdui, Braeriach & Ben Nevis).
My story: On June 25 2021 while training with my local rugby Club Blairgowrie, I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. To this date there has been no explanation behind the event and as a precaution a defibrillator (S-ICD)has been fitted to me. Without the quick actions of my rugby team and community, I would have likely not even made it to the hospital that night. Thankfully the club had an externally mounted defibrillator which in my case was absolutely crucial.
This challenge is to raise awareness for cardiac illnesses, arrest sufferers and to share the importance of defibrillators and cardiac technology (like the icd I have fitted).
Additionally, to raise money for Hearts + Balls and shine a light on what the charity can do - helping rugby to help its own! The generosity and dedication of this charity and its ambassadors and directors cannot be faulted.
H+B in partnership with Scottish Rugby and British Heart foundation this year have fully funded 35 AED defibrillators for Scottish Rugby Clubs. Costing £33,000 many of these have been externally mounted to also benefit the local communities.
The importance in supporting such work is to of course fund more AED defibrillators but also to ensure they are kept in a working condition all year round. These machines require batteries, pads and can in some cases reach the end of their life span. Meaning a replacement is required. All of this isn’t cheap!
Please donate to cheer me and the team on!
THANK YOU!
