Why Breast Cancer Now?
Scott’s Performing Arts was established in 2022 with the aim to give as many people performance opportunities as possible. Scott’s director Emily, is a musical theatre performer/ teacher and is constantly looking for ways to allow people to perform ‘all in a days work’. This is where the charity performance comes in, over the last few years Emily met Kate Miles when Kate brought her two girls along to Scott’s Workshops. After hearing Kate’s story she and her team decided to put on a musical in 24 hours to raise money for this amazing cause.
Hi, I’m Kate, a 41-year-old wife, mum of two, sister, and primary school teacher. I was diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer in April 2020 just as we went into the first lockdown. Not long after that, I found out I had stage 4 cancer and will have ongoing treatment.
Although at times it has been gruelling, I feel very lucky to have received powerful treatment that has kept me stable for the last 4 years. I am also grateful for the ongoing treatment and care I receive which enables me to live a relatively normal life. To show my appreciation, I chose to start raising money for Breast Cancer Now because now more than ever, I realise the importance of research, especially into secondary cancer, something they invest millions in.
With a wonderful team of friends and family, so far I have raised just under £35k. I am hoping to reach £45k by the end of the year and Scott's PA have kindly offered to support me with this. I am hoping to be able to help bring their incredible 24-hour musical to life. To make this possible and to raise as much money as possible, we are asking for your support and any help with making this venture a reality would be hugely appreciated.
