Story
In September, I’ll be taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro — a mountain that rises to 5,895 meters and stands proudly as the tallest freestanding peak in the world.
As someone who loves hiking and being out in the outdoors, this climb is the ultimate way to push myself further and turn something I’m passionate about into something meaningful.
To help prepare for the trek I will be hiking Mount Teide in March and taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge in June.
I’m raising funds for the East & North Hertfordshire Hospital’s Charity. They are fundraising to create a brand new quiet room in the resus area within Lister Hospital's Emergency Department.
The room will be a tranquil, calm and peaceful room to be used to treat end of life patients away from the busy and noisy Emergency department. The room will also be used by family members so they can visit their loved ones.
This project is centred around creating a hospice style environment within the hospital with the aim of making those final moments as peaceful as possible.
In my line of work, I will see first hand how beneficial this will be and the massive impact it will have on patients and their families.
This climb is my way of giving something back and every donation, no matter the size, will help make a real difference and will keep me motivated with every step toward the summit.
