Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. In 2026, we’re taking on a slightly different kind of marathon.
Instead of running 26.2 miles or 42km in a single day, we’re spreading the challenge across the year due to Lisa's SI joint issues! So, we're taking part in five 10k races in Newport (19 April), Barry Island (17 May), Porthcawl (5 July), Swansea (20 September) and Venice (24 October) - ok so Venice isn't part of the series, but Olivia fancied it! And it also takes us to 50km which doesn't really fit with the 'we're running the equivalent of a marathon' narrative! Ah well!
We’re doing this to raise money for the ScoutsCymru Adventure Fund — a fund that supports young people who might otherwise miss out on the opportunities Scouting offers because of financial barriers.
For some, the cost of kit - sleeping bag, rucksack or one of those roll up mattresses that can't possibly be comfy for example - as well as the actual trip, can be a real barrier. Without support, it can mean that some young people just can't take part so won't get a chance to go away with their group and end up missing out on experiences that build confidence, independence and lifelong memories.
This fund helps remove that barrier and we'd just like to add a few £ to it if we can.
If you’re able to donate the cost of a flat white, thank you — every contribution will help make a real difference.
Lisa, Olivia and potentially Mel!
