Story

Annie Fanny (Darren Johnson), Snow White (Lauren Budd), Prince Charming (Zoe Wright) and The Good Fairy (Jess Spanier) are running this years Big Green 10k in aid of local charity Lindsey Lodge Hospice.

Lindsey Lodge Hospice need to raise 4.5 million every year to ensure their vital services remain free to the people of North Lincolnshire. Lindsey Lodge delivers more than just hospice care. Situated in the heart of North Lincolnshire, Lindsey Lodge has been providing high-quality, specialist palliative care and well-being services to local people and families living with progressive life-limiting illnesses for over 30 years.

Every year, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers touch the lives of hundreds of people, either directly as patients, or by supporting family members or carers, before, during and after one of the most difficult times in their lives.

We are passionate about providing the best possible services to meet the needs of our patients and their loved ones. Our expert care has never been more in demand; not only by cancer patients, but also for people living with serious cardiac or respiratory issues, and neurological conditions such as advanced motor neurone disease. Some of our older patients also have additional needs such as mobility problems or dementia.

We are an independent charity working across North Lincolnshire and provide a wide range of services including symptom management, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, lymphoedema, fatigue and breathlessness services, complimentary therapy and end of life care along with bereavement and family support services.

We are immensely privileged to deliver a service which actually affirms and improves quality of life by providing patients with relief from symptoms, pain and stress, enabling their dignity and supporting their loved ones through the highs and lows of their illness and beyond.

“My time in the Wellbeing Centre exceeded my expectations, I was there for six weeks and made a number of friends. I quickly connected with the other patients, as they knew exactly how I was feeling.”

“When people think of hospices, they often think of doom and gloom, but I quickly realised when I started visiting that this wasn’t the case. Throughout my time here, we’ve laughed and laughed.”

“I was admitted to the Inpatient Unit after my mobility quickly declined. As Christmas was soon approaching, I wanted to spend quality time with family and friends so the team at Lindsey Lodge arranged for me to visit home. When it was time for me to come back to the hospice, the staff made sure my room was truly festive, complete with Christmas tree and lots of fairy lights, the warm glow of Christmas was a real comfort when I woke up at night.”
