Story

All donations made will go to support Jens Special Place and Team Verrico. These are small, local charities which help and support people who have been bereaved.

Jens Special Place is a child bereavement support charity based in Scunthorpe. It is a much needed service that offers many children, including Oscar (Stephen and Rachel's son) support as he navigates his grief over the coming years.

The charity aims to support children and young people in expressing their grief and exploring their feelings in a safe and emphatic environment; enabling them to grow through each others experiences. Parents and carers also benefit from the service; offering adult peer support and an opportunity to speak with others in similar circumstances.

Team Verrico was founded in 2014, the charity helps: ‘To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers and their families of particularly lethal medical conditions’. Whilst the charity focus mostly on supporting people living with or bereaved by Cancer, it has broadened its scope to help support Rachel and Oscar as they navigate their bereavement.

These two charities are helping to support Stephen’s family through some of the hardest times of their life. With your support these charities will be operating for many years to come and help other families who experience grief and trauma.

The amazing team completing this challenge include:

Davy Nelson, Ray Herring, Ian Murray, Steve Smith, Mark Robinson, Richard French, Mark Popperwell, Matt Walden, Dan Neilson, Mike Mcdermot, Phil Cook and Simon Akrill.
