Story
Hello,
On September 14th I'm running the Kew Gardens 10km and raising funds for Milo's Mission: a Special Named Fund at CCLG (The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association).
Milo Bayly Sissons - also affectionately known as Smilo for his constant cheeky smile - was the delightful 2.5 year old son of our friends Sam & Alex. Milo was a force of nature, absolutely bursting with life, making friends with everyone he met. He loved dinosaurs, trains, planes and helicopters, the playground, complex jigsaw puzzles, reading books, and his family. He was doing so well at nursery and was speaking with the vocabulary of a 3–4-year-old. He loved football and was a bit of a jet setter having visited lots of different countries.
Last October he was diagnosed with Wilms' tumour, a cancer of the kidney. Over just under 6 weeks, he bravely endured dozens of procedures and setbacks in his treatment. He tragically passed away on 26th November. We think of Milo every day and will remember him always 💙
Just how special Milo is and everything he went through, doesn't fit neatly into a box of text, but Sam & Alex have shared more about his story and why they are raising funds for CCLG in his memory. Please take the time to read here: https://specialnamedfunds.cclg.org.uk/milos-mission/
CCLG campaign for earlier diagnosis of childhood cancer, awareness of the signs and symptoms, and research into kinder treatments.
10km isn't a huge distance, I know (shout out to Alex and the pals doing half marathons for the Great North Run!), but being spurred on by the support in Milo's name will be much appreciated.
Thank you. Sherry x
