Headway Thames Valley provides advice, support & rehabilitation to adults living with acquired brain injury and their families and carers. The charity aims to improve lives wherever it can by encouraging and enabling independence, hobbies, return to work, social integration, adjustment & acceptance.

Story

To 'celebrate' 15 years as a severe brain injury survivor I am raising money for Headway Thames Valley and attempting to run my second marathon.

Headway Thames Valley is a charity based in Henley-on-Thames helping people to live life after brain injury in Berkshire and South Oxfordshire. All the activities and support Headway offer aim to help people to regain lost skills, learn something new and to build confidence and independence.

There are many possible causes of brain injury, including a fall, a road accident, tumour, stroke, cardiac arrest, complications during operations and more. A brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – the way you walk, talk, think, feel and remember (or not!).

Such a great team, always on hand to help brain injury survivors and their families through the tough times. I know they will be there virtually motivating me up the 8 mile hill section of the course from Marathon to Athens on Sunday 12!
