Sean's 100km Ultra Marathon for Charlie's Promise

Sean Cornell is raising money for Charlie's Promise
Created via charity sign up service.

Story

On Saturday 22nd July 2023, Charlie went to an organised house party in a small village in West Sussex and never returned home.

At the party, Charlie was stabbed multiple times.

On 25th July after fighting for three days, Charlie's life support machine was switched off as a result of his irreversible injuries.

Whilst Charlie was on life support, his Dad Martin made the most important promise of his life. He whispered in Charlie’s ear and promised him he would make it his life’s work to do everything he can to raise awareness of knife crime and the immeasurable damage it causes to the victim and their family and friends.

It was in that moment Charlie's Promise the charity was born.

Martin, now heads up the charity as CEO, travelling daily to schools and clubs to talk on the dangers of knife crime and to tell Charlie' story.

In the Autumn of 2023 months after Charlie died, I was invited by Martin, Charlie's Mum, Tara and his brother and sister Adam and Eloise to create the branding for the Charity, something I feel incredible passionate about. And some months later the family invited me to further support the charity as one of its trustees.

And so to this challenge.

13th September 2025

8.00am,

Putney Bridge, London

Here I will be starting a continuous 100km Thames Path Ultra Marathon to raise money for the Charity with my friends Andre, Regs, Bob and Chucky joining me on this incredible adventure.

Fingers crossed with 24 hours we will have wound our way to Henley in Berkshire where we will finish.

Your kind donations will help to grow the Charlie's Promise community, a movement of young people, parents, carer, families, service providers, policy makers and partners - all committed to working together to eliminated knife crime and immeasurable damage to victims and their friends and families.
