In memory of Sheila Allen

Amyloidosis is a rare, often fatal disease, caused by accumulation of protein fibres, amyloid, in the tissues. The Fund provides invaluable support for research and patients in the National Amyloidosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital.

Story

In memory of my mum Sheila Allen – the best Mum, Nan, and friend anyone could wish for.

Sheila was diagnosed with Amyloidosis 13 years ago, a rare and often misunderstood disease that affects vital organs and can have a devastating impact on those living with it. Despite the challenges she faced, showed incredible strength, courage, and determination every single day. She never let her diagnosis define her and continued to bring love, laughter, and kindness to everyone around her.

To honour Sheila's memory and raise awareness of Amyloidosis, myself ,and my friend Kirsty ,in September, will be cycling from Brighton to Paris ,on her cherished old Raleigh bike. I will also be running , in October, the Manchester Half Marathon with my Son Jamie ,and friends and family , covering 13 miles to represent every year mum lived with this disease.

Every mile we ride and every step I run will be dedicated to her memory and to all those affected by Amyloidosis. By supporting this fundraiser, you will be helping to fund vital research, improve awareness, and support families facing this disease.

Sheila was more than a Mum and Nan—she was the heart of our family, a loyal friend, and an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her love, warmth, and strength continue to guide us every day.

If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world to us.

Every contribution brings us one step closer to improving the lives of those living with Amyloidosis and finding better treatments for future generations.

Thank you for supporting this challenge and helping us celebrate my mum's remarkable life.

For my mum -Always remembered, always loved. ❤️
