Story

I'm joining the Mind Over Mountains Project 500 to help them raise £500,000 by June 2025, so they can provide more mental health support in nature to everyone who needs it across the UK.

Mind Over Mountains is a ground-breaking charity helping people overcome mental health challenges through therapeutic outdoor experiences. Their specialist wellbeing walks and retreats bring together professionally guided hill-walking, mindfulness, and quality time with experienced coaches and counsellors.

They helped me personally many years ago after the Covid epidemic forced us to shut the business that we had worked so hard to build up.

If you have ever been in the unfortunate position where you need assistance with your mental health through the NHS; you will understand how utterly frustrating the process is. Government cuts have left mental health deprioritised at a time when more people than ever need assistance.

It was because of my time with the Mind Over Mountains team that I entered my first Pan Celtic Ultra Endurance Race (1600 miles) in 2022. Sadly that race did not go to plan when I crashed out on the second day with a broken bike and shoulder. A years worth of training and sacrifice seemingly wasted. Undetered, I entered the Pan Celtic Race in 2023 determined to redeem myself. I completed over 1200 miles in 9 days but with only 200 miles remaining I had to pull out of the race with tendinitis in my knee.

So this year I am absolutely determined to finish the Pan Celtic Race 2024. Rather than just attempt the Full route 2393KM , I have entered the Magnum Opus which features an additional 1300KM before the start of the main event. As I will be starting from Lands End, I have also decided to further extend my journey from the finish of PCR in Inverness onwards to John O'Groats. This should give a total journey in excess of 4000KM.

I am not setting a time limit for the ride but would hope to finish within a month.

Please help me to help Mind Over Mountains help others. Suicide is now the largest killer of all people under 35 and also the largest killer of men under 50 years old.
