Story
I speak from experience when I say that I now understand and have seen the value of having someone else other than your parents to talk to as a young person.
As a dad of three teenage kids I can't help but feel life was a little simpler when I was their age (of course that could just be my perception!).
That is why I support this amazing charity. We were lucky enough to have access to amazing support but so many young people are missing out on this. I hope by doing this fundraising I’m able to help out.
Young people don’t have the mental health support they need when they need it. Each month, 420,000 young people are referred to NHS services, but 50% are rejected, leaving many without help. Of those seen, 270,000 (28%) are still waiting for further support after referral. Additionally, less than half of those with a probable mental disorder had at least one contact with Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services within the year.
The Children's Society is a national charity, working with young people to counsel and support them through their most serious life challenges.
They are there for those who can't access mental health services and are at high risk of developing a mental health condition if they don't get the support they need. If they're anxious about home life or stressed over exams, they listen!
They campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.
