Story

On the 7th September myself and Simon are taking part in the Great North Run to fundraise on behalf of St Christopher’s. An amazing school my good friend’s daughter Daisy attends.

At St Christopher's Special School, they cater for pupils between the ages of 2 to 19 with wide ranging special educational needs including physical and medical needs, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and social communication difficulties and severe and profound learning difficulties.

Our friend's daughter Daisy has attended St Christophers for the past year, and was offered a place here at the start of her Reception year, aged 4. She was diagnosed with Autism, Global Development Delay and Sensory Processing Disorder aged 2. Daisy has thrived in this specialist School, where she has made so much progress in her communication, cognition, SEMH and sensory needs. She loves going to School and is provided with an inclusive space where they can meet her needs everyday. The School have supported the family and have changed their lives for the better.

Daisy’s mum, Becky, is nothing short of amazing too. She now also plays a huge part at St Christopher’s combining her skills as a main stream teacher and her own experiences with Daisy to help others. St Christopher’s has really changed family life for her and her husband and the lives of all families.

We are hoping any money raised will go towards sprucing up the sensory garden at the school, as this is one of Daisy's favourite places to visit, other than the pool.

Anything you give would be very much appreciated and will go towards making a huge change to so many young children.
